The termination of a pregnancy by abortion or an early pregnancy loss does not negatively affect the chance of becoming pregnant again, provided that no complications (such as retained products of conception, infection, or intrauterine adhesions) developed during or after the procedure. However, especially in cases of early pregnancy loss, genetic evaluation of the couple might be necessary before a new IVF attempt. When genetic testing is requested for the couple, it should be kept in mind that results may take 2-3 weeks to be obtained.
