As cancer patients represent a broad and heterogeneous group, individual assessment for each case is essential. Influenza and pneumococcal vaccines are strongly recommended for this patient group. The tetanus vaccine, part of the adult immunization schedule, should also not be overlooked. Depending on the patient's specific condition and risk factors, hepatitis, Hemophilus influenza, and meningococcal vaccines may also be indicated. However, as a general rule, live attenuated vaccines (such as measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox, yellow fever, oral typhoid, and rotavirus vaccines) are contraindicated in immunocompromised cancer patients, as they can increase the risk of infection, and should therefore not be administered.
