Autoimmune diseases are characterized by the immune system attacking the body's own healthy cells, tissues, and organs for unknown or not fully understood reasons. Due to their complex nature, there is currently no definitive cure for autoimmune diseases. The primary goal of current treatments is to alleviate symptoms, slow down disease progression, and control the immune system's overactivity. These treatments can often be lifelong and are managed according to the patient's condition.
