Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is a contagious infection typically caused by two viruses: Coxsackievirus A16 and Enterovirus 71. These viruses are primarily transmitted through direct or indirect contact. The disease spreads through respiratory droplets released when an infected person coughs or sneezes, or through contact with bodily fluids such as nasal secretions, saliva, and feces. The virus can also be transmitted by touching contaminated surfaces or coming into contact with an infected person's bodily fluids. HFMD is most commonly observed in young children.
