The condition commonly referred to as heart valve thickening is, in fact, heart muscle thickening, also known as myocardial hypertrophy. This condition arises from an increase in heart muscle mass or the accumulation of different tissues within the heart muscle. The most prevalent cause of myocardial hypertrophy is hypertension (high blood pressure). In cases of heart muscle thickening, symptoms such as arrhythmias, palpitations, swelling in the feet in advanced stages, and easy fatigue may be observed. Individuals with hypertension and those with heart valve disease are among the highest-risk groups for this condition.
