Ebola virus infection can be asymptomatic for a period, meaning individuals may not be aware they are contagious until symptoms manifest. The most common symptoms typically emerge within 2 to 21 days post-infection and include: Fever; Muscle and joint aches; Weakness; Headache; Chills; Fatigue; Abdominal pain. Further symptoms that may occur are: Vomiting; Diarrhea; Raised rash; Impaired liver and kidney function. In critical cases, internal and external bleeding may develop, potentially progressing to multi-organ failure and posing a severe threat to life.
