Digital dermatoscopy allows for detailed examination of moles and other skin lesions with 10 to 100 times magnification. Moles can be examined directly and previously recorded dermatoscopic images can be reviewed. Risk scores can even be determined and archived. The ability to microscopically photograph and record lesions is crucial. This allows for easy detection of even the smallest changes in size, color, shape, and structure of moles by comparison at subsequent examinations.
