There is no specific laboratory test for the diagnosis of the disease. Elevated levels of C-reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate in blood can be measured. Analysis can be performed on urine and stool samples if blood is present. Biopsy may be considered if kidney involvement leads to severe conditions such as kidney failure. Ultrasound methods may be used for gastrointestinal symptoms.
