Oral cancer is a type of cancer that results from the growth of abnormal cells anywhere in the mouth or lips. Early detection of oral cancers is extremely important for successful treatment, with surgery playing a primary role in the treatment of tumors in this area. Surgery should be performed with as wide and safe a surgical margin as possible, and the surgical specimen must be supported by pathology (frozen section) during the operation. In some cases, chemotherapy may be used in addition to surgery. Neck dissection is necessary in the treatment of oral cancer (except for the hard palate).
