Tongue-tie, visible in everyone, is more common in males than females. In some cases, tongue-tie is hereditary, meaning it's passed down through families. This condition may affect approximately 10 percent of infants. Tongue-tie mostly affects babies and young children, but it can also be present in older children and adults.
