Elevated CRP is seen when inflammation in diverticulitis reaches a certain level. Diverticulitis is most commonly observed in the sigmoid colon. Gas and diarrhea can occur with this disease. However, it most often presents with abdominal pain. No association with cancer has been found. Diverticulitis is not fatal, but complications can arise, and if diagnosis is delayed or missed, it can become life-threatening.
