1. Mononeuropathy: A neuropathy affecting a single peripheral nerve.
2. Polyneuropathy: A neuropathy affecting multiple nerves, symmetrical, manifesting in the extremities (hands and feet).
Motor neuropathy: A neuropathy affecting the motor nerves responsible for muscle movement. Symptoms may include muscle weakness, muscle twitching, and muscle wasting.
Sensory neuropathy: A type of neuropathy affecting nerves that transmit sensations such as touch, pain, and temperature. Symptoms include numbness, tingling, burning, pins and needles, and a feeling of tightness in the hands and feet.
Sensorimotor neuropathy: A neuropathy affecting both motor and sensory nerve fibers. It presents with muscle weakness along with numbness, tingling, burning, and loss of sensation in the hands and feet.
Autonomic neuropathy: A neuropathy affecting fibers of the autonomic nervous system. Symptoms may include abnormal sweating, cardiac arrhythmias, sudden blood pressure changes, erectile dysfunction, and impotence.
