The diagnosis of telangiectasias is made by clinical examination. The location and extent of telangiectasias may necessitate investigation into underlying diseases. If deemed necessary by the physician, various blood tests and imaging studies such as ultrasound may be ordered to identify the underlying cause of the telangiectasia.
