Obesity is a condition characterized by a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, which is calculated by dividing a person's weight in kilograms by the square of their height in meters. BMI does not account for variations in body composition or height. Obesity is also defined by excessive fat accumulation in the abdominal area and around internal organs. An imbalance of excessive body fat can lead to cardiovascular diseases, including vascular blockage, stroke, and high cholesterol. Obesity or being overweight also contributes to shortness of breath.

Obesity is a rapidly progressing disease worldwide and in our country. Obesity rates are increasing daily. As average life expectancy increases, obesity lowers quality of life, reduces productivity, and requires treatment.
