Cordectomy is defined as a surgical procedure that removes part or all of the vocal cords due to the detection of early-stage laryngeal cancer. This surgery allows for the removal of only the cancerous area in early-stage laryngeal cancers, leaving the cancer-free portions of the larynx intact. Except in rare cases, it offers a chance of recovery from laryngeal cancer without the need for a tracheotomy.
