Some individuals may have congenital anomalies in their heart valves. These individuals may develop aortic stenosis or regurgitation due to heart valve problems over time. They are at risk of valve infections. Additionally, rheumatic fever, mitral valve prolapse, heart valve calcification, and valve infections can all cause heart valve disease.
