Osteoarthritis in the knee joint typically occurs in the inner part of the knee or the kneecap. As this condition progresses, patients find it increasingly difficult to perform daily activities such as climbing stairs, standing up, and sitting down, leading to reduced mobility. Patients often report discomfort from a 'cracking' sound originating from their joints. Additionally, knee lock-ups resulting from other knee conditions, such as meniscus tears or loose bodies (joint mice), can lead to sudden falls. Especially in elderly patients, these falls can result in life-threatening hip fractures.
