In the surgical treatment of penile curvature, simple plication techniques may be preferred in suitable cases. In this method, the curvature is corrected by placing plication sutures on the side opposite to the curvature. For more complex cases, plaque areas causing the curvature are corrected by covering them with graft materials, often taken from leg veins, similar to those used in bypass surgery. When graft materials are not suitable, or when accompanying erectile dysfunction is present, the implantation of a penile prosthesis, commonly known as a penile implant, may be considered.
