Studies indicate a correlation between the severity of sperm morphological abnormalities and fertilization success in conventional in vitro fertilization (IVF), where selected motile sperm are placed with egg cells for natural fertilization. However, in microinjection methods like intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), embryologists select sperm with the most optimal shape and structure using special techniques during the procedure. Therefore, the negative impact of morphological evaluation on IVF treatment is not as significant as often assumed, except in specific cases. Special morphological defects, such as Globozoospermia, which severely impede the sperm's fertilization ability, must be excluded from this general consideration.
