Eosinophil (EOS) elevation is an indicator of the body's immune response to various stimuli. The primary causes leading to this condition include allergic and atopic conditions (such as asthma, hay fever, eczema, and general allergic reactions), parasitic and fungal infections, certain microbial diseases, autoimmune disorders (like Celiac disease and Crohn's disease), Cushing's syndrome, Hodgkin lymphoma, leukemia, and other types of cancer. Furthermore, the use of certain medications can also cause an increase in eosinophil levels. Therefore, when evaluating eosinophil elevation, the patient's medical history, current medications, and other clinical findings should be thoroughly reviewed. Eosinophil elevation can indicate that the immune system is actively responding to a specific stimulus.
