Follow-up care is crucial after treatment for Wilms tumor. A follow-up program including physical examinations and imaging tests at intervals prescribed by the doctor should be followed to determine if the tumor has recurred.

If part or all of a kidney was removed during Wilms tumor surgery, blood and urine tests are done to check how well the remaining kidney tissue is functioning.
