Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) is a diagnostic procedure employed when standard transthoracic echocardiography fails to provide adequate image quality, often due to factors like lung disease or chest wall deformities. It is also utilized when a closer and more detailed assessment of intracardiac structures is required. TEE is an endoscopic examination where a thin probe is gently guided through the mouth into the esophagus, positioning it directly behind the heart. This proximity allows for the acquisition of exceptionally clear and detailed echocardiographic images.
