Platelet suspension is a blood component administered to patients with thrombocytopenia or platelet dysfunction to prevent bleeding and stop active hemorrhage. There are two main types: random platelet suspension and apheresis platelet suspension. Random platelet suspensions are prepared by centrifuging whole blood obtained from a patient, separating it into its components. Apheresis platelet suspensions, on the other hand, are collected using specialized medical devices known as apheresis machines, which are similar to dialysis equipment.
