Cordectomy is a surgical procedure involving the removal of a part or all of the vocal cords in the presence of early-stage laryngeal cancer. This surgery allows for the removal of only the cancerous area in early-stage laryngeal cancers, preserving healthy laryngeal tissues. In most cases, it enables the treatment of laryngeal cancer without requiring a permanent tracheostomy (an opening in the neck for breathing).
