The tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) procedure involves the removal of excess skin and fat tissue from the abdominal area. Typically, the connective tissue sheaths (fascia) of the abdominal muscles are tightened with sutures to achieve a flatter and firmer abdominal contour. The remaining tissue is aesthetically reshaped. During this procedure, stretch marks (striae) located in the lower abdominal area below the navel can also be addressed; however, a tummy tuck is not effective for stretch marks outside this specific region.
