Bronchiectasis is an irreversible and progressively worsening chronic lung disease. Early diagnosis and effective treatment strategies are of critical importance in the management of this condition. If left untreated, patients may experience frequent recurrent infection attacks, bronchospasm, and respiratory failure; as the disease progresses, complications increase. Severe and life-threatening hemorrhages (hemoptysis), an increased incidence of non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections, and systemic complications such as amyloidosis can also be observed.
