The most common symptom of bronchiectasis is a chronic, recurrent, and persistent cough. This cough is often accompanied by thick, green-yellow sputum containing bacteria and inflammation. In some cases, bloody sputum (hemoptysis) may also be observed. Other symptoms can include wheezing during respiration, shortness of breath, chest pain, fatigue, night sweats, clubbing of the fingertips, and fever in the presence of pneumonia.
