Spasticity significantly impacts patients' daily lives, leading to functional and psychosocial limitations. These limitations can result in psychological challenges such as depression and anxiety. Physical deformities arising from spasticity can lead to negative social implications for individuals. Muscle contractions restrict daily activities, often requiring assistance even for basic personal care tasks. This dependence not only affects the patient but also places a considerable burden on their caregivers, limiting their lives as well. Specifically, spasticity in the foot and toe muscles impedes ambulation and balance, increasing the risk of falls, causing calluses, and making footwear uncomfortable. Furthermore, spasticity affecting the shoulder, elbow, and wrist muscles can render patients fully dependent on others for essential daily activities, including personal hygiene and transfers.
