The tricuspid valve is a heart valve located between the right atrium and the right ventricle of the heart, consisting of three leaflets. It gets its name from these three leaflets. It can often be secondarily affected by conditions on the left side of the heart (such as mitral valve stenosis and insufficiency, left heart failure) or by increased pressure in the lungs (pulmonary hypertension).
