Testicular torsion is a medical emergency that occurs when a testicle twists around its spermatic cord, disrupting blood flow to the testis. Various factors contribute to this condition, including genetic predisposition, rapid growth of reproductive organs during adolescence, injury or trauma to the testicles, vigorous physical activity or intense sports, and exposure to cold temperatures. It is also important to note that testicular torsion can sometimes occur spontaneously without any identifiable cause.
