In in vitro fertilization (IVF treatment), gender selection is technically possible through genetic examination of embryos. However, under the In Vitro Fertilization Regulation currently in force in the Republic of Turkey, gender selection is legally prohibited. Therefore, genetic examinations are not performed for the purpose of gender selection. In our country, gender selection can only be performed as a medical necessity when there is the presence or risk of genetic diseases carried on the sex chromosome.
