Epidural anesthesia and analgesia can generally be safely applied to patients with normal platelet (blood clotting cell) levels and no infection at the application site. However, in special circumstances such as severe obesity, morbid obesity, advanced scoliosis, or severe disc herniation, the feasibility of the procedure is determined by the assessment and approval of the anesthesiologist.
