Spinal injection methods are generally safe procedures applicable to a wide range of patients. However, some conditions may require special attention or temporary adjustments:
* Patients on Anticoagulants: Patients using blood thinners due to heart conditions or cerebral vascular occlusions need to consult their physician and temporarily discontinue the medication for 5-7 days. The procedure can be safely performed after this precaution.
* Uncontrolled Diabetes: The procedure can be performed by adjusting drug dosages to prevent blood sugar levels from rising. Stabilization of blood sugar before the procedure is important.
* Pregnancy: The procedure is not performed under fluoroscopy due to the risk of fetal X-ray exposure. However, medication can be safely administered with ultrasound guidance.
* Absolute Contraindications: Spinal injection methods are not recommended in cases of severe coagulation disorders (blood diseases) and active infection.
* Age: The patient's age generally does not constitute a limitation. Although lumbar disc herniation is rare in the pediatric age group, spinal injections can be safely applied for large hernias even in patients aged 12-13. If appropriate indications exist, these methods can be safely applied to patients of all ages.
