Hormones secreted by the adrenal glands are divided into three main groups and perform various important functions in the body:

Glucocorticoids: The primary hormone in this group is cortisol. Cortisol plays a critical role in regulating blood sugar levels, modulating inflammatory responses, and managing the body's energy utilization during the stress response.

Mineralocorticoids: Aldosterone, the most important mineralocorticoid, regulates the body's sodium and potassium balance, blood volume, and blood pressure.

Androgens: This group includes hormones such as testosterone, DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone), and DHEAS (dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate). These androgens are produced in small amounts by the adrenal glands in both men and women. Particularly in women, they play a role in libido and the development of secondary sexual characteristics.
