Knee prostheses typically consist of three main components: two metal alloy parts and an insert piece between them. The metal components of the prostheses are generally manufactured from titanium or cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy. These metal components are applied to the bone surfaces that form the knee joint. An insert piece, made of reinforced polyethylene, is placed between the two metal parts.
