Amputation levels are surgical classifications determined by the point at which a limb is severed. These levels are generally determined by the location of the disease or trauma and primarily include:

Leg Amputations: Above-knee (transfemoral), below-knee (transtibial), foot level, or toe level amputations can be performed. At more proximal levels, hip disarticulations, where the entire limb is removed from the hip joint, are also possible.

Arm Amputations: Above-elbow (transhumeral), below-elbow (transradial), wrist level (wrist disarticulation), metacarpal (hand bones), or finger level amputations can be performed. Additionally, shoulder disarticulations, where the entire arm is removed from the shoulder joint, are also included.
