While bariatric surgical procedures such as sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass effectively promote sustainable weight loss, some patients may not be candidates for surgery or prefer non-surgical options. For these individuals, endoscopic methods offer a viable alternative. Among these, the endoscopic gastric balloon is a frequently chosen and effective intervention. The procedure involves the endoscopic insertion and inflation of a balloon into the stomach via the mouth. This balloon occupies space within the stomach, thereby reducing its functional volume and altering gastric motility. Consequently, patients experience decreased appetite and reduced food intake capacity. This leads to smaller meal portions and, ultimately, significant weight loss. A key advantage of the endoscopic gastric balloon is its reversibility. Should a patient wish to discontinue the treatment for any reason, the balloon can be easily removed. Modern gastric balloons are designed to remain in place for durations ranging from 6 months to 1 year.
