Butterfly disease, also known as Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), is a rare genetic condition characterized by fluid-filled lesions (blisters) on the skin and mucous membranes. This condition is observed in children, who are often referred to as "Butterfly Children" due to their extremely fragile skin. Blisters can form not only on the skin but also on the mucous membranes of internal organs such as the mouth, esophagus, stomach, intestines, and respiratory tracts. These lesions typically appear in response to even the slightest mechanical stress, such as a gentle touch, friction, or trauma, and significantly impact patients' quality of life by predisposing them to recurrent wounds and secondary infections.
