Adenitis is an inflammation of the lymph nodes. This condition is characterized by the swelling, warmth, and tenderness of these nodes. It most commonly affects lymph nodes in the neck, armpits, and groin. While often caused by bacterial or viral infections, allergies can also be a contributing factor. It is also known as lymphadenitis or adenolymphitis.
