Low parathormone (PTH) refers to a parathyroid hormone level, as determined by a PTH test, that falls below the reference range of 15-65 picograms. This condition results from the parathyroid glands producing or secreting insufficient parathormone and is typically accompanied by low blood calcium levels (hypocalcemia) and high blood phosphorus levels (hyperphosphatemia).
