Blood gases refer to the levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide dissolved in the blood. A blood gas test measures these gas levels, as well as the blood's acidity (pH). The balance of these gases and the pH level can vary due to various medical conditions. For example, conditions such as kidney, heart, or liver failure can lead to an increase in blood acidity (acidosis) and an imbalance in blood gas levels. Blood gas analysis provides important information about the functioning of other vital organs and the body's metabolic state.
