Before an electromyography (EMG) procedure, it is important to shower on the day of the procedure and avoid applying creams or lotions to your skin, to ensure proper electrode placement and skin conductivity. Additionally, if you have a blood-borne disease (such as hepatitis, AIDS) or suspect you have COVID-19, please inform the neurophysiologist. You should also disclose any regular medications you are taking, whether you have a pacemaker, or if you are using blood-thinning medications. There is no need to fast before an EMG procedure.
