Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) is a rare genetic disorder. The estimated prevalence of the disease in Western countries is approximately 2.5 cases per 100,000 people. However, FMF is significantly more common in countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea; it is reported to affect one in every 200 individuals in these populations.
