Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in men. Confirmation of a prostate cancer diagnosis, especially in high-risk men, is generally achieved through a prostate biopsy. A prostate biopsy is considered for men who have high total PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) levels, suspicious prostate findings during a digital rectal examination, suspicious lesions assessed as PI-RADS 4 or PI-RADS 5 in multiparametric prostate MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) results, or a high risk of prostate cancer identified through genetic tests.
