The cornerstone of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) treatment involves oral antibiotics prescribed by a physician. These antibiotics aim to eradicate the infection and facilitate the healing of the disease. During the treatment period and until full recovery, abstaining from sexual intercourse is critically important for both treatment efficacy and reducing the risk of re-infection. In rare cases, surgical intervention may be necessary, particularly in situations involving the rupture of a pelvic abscess or a lack of response to antibiotic therapy. However, for the majority of cases, antibiotic treatment remains the initial and primary treatment option.
