The most common type of radiation therapy used in the treatment of pancreatic cancer is external-beam radiation therapy. It is often given at the same time as chemotherapy because the combination of radiation and chemotherapy is usually more effective. Concurrent chemo-radiation can help shrink and destroy pancreatic tumors.
