Intracavitary fibroids (those extending into the uterine cavity) can impede embryo implantation and development, potentially leading to miscarriage or preterm birth. Should an embryo implant within or adjacent to a fibroid, compromised blood supply to that area may contribute to spontaneous abortions. Later in pregnancy, fibroids may undergo degeneration or torsion, resulting in pain and, occasionally, inducing preterm labor. The initial diagnostic assessment for uterine fibroids typically involves a Hysterosalpingography (HSG), an imaging technique of the uterus. For a more comprehensive evaluation, Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves inserting an optical instrument into the uterus for direct visualization.
