Obesity, though more prevalent in women, is a global health issue that can occur at any age. Factors contributing to weight gain in women include the consumption of unnecessary foods during pregnancy and breastfeeding, based on the belief that it aids milk production; the persistence of some weight gained after each childbirth; and the fat-increasing effect of estrogen hormone combined with a more sedentary lifestyle. Furthermore, a significant increase in obesity prevalence is currently observed among children and adolescents due to poor dietary habits.
