Thyroid biopsy is a diagnostic procedure performed to evaluate the presence of cancer, infection, or other pathological conditions by taking a small tissue sample from the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland, located in front of the trachea and just below the larynx, may develop nodules that can be felt by hand or detected by imaging techniques in some cases. While the vast majority of these nodules are benign, some may carry a risk of cancer. Thyroid biopsy is an important tool for definitively determining the nature of these nodules.
