Ventricular tachycardia (VT) is a rapid and irregular heart rhythm disorder originating from the left or right ventricles of the heart. This condition can arise from a purely electrical abnormality without a discernible underlying structural heart disease, or it can develop as a result of structural heart abnormalities such as cardiomyopathy (heart muscle diseases) or coronary artery disease-related vascular blockage. Ventricular tachycardias associated with structural heart disease are particularly critical due to their potential to carry life-threatening risks.
